The What, When And Where Of TEAM BUILDING

Join us at/or .. Place Or Zoom

This is a two-day intensive workshop that transforms individuals into high-performing teams through a combination of practical activities, proven frameworks, and structured learning.

You'll explore TORI principles (Trust, Openness, Realisation, Interdependence) as the foundation for team effectiveness, use surveys and self-assessment tools to understand communication styles and team dynamics, and develop essential capabilities in active listening, role clarity, and conflict resolution.

The workshop combines the BIG PICTURE® visual collaboration methodology with trust and relationship models, creativity exercises, SWOT analysis, and problem-solving techniques. Through engaging activities designed to stretch capabilities and strengthen confidence, teams move from understanding what makes teams effective to creating concrete action plans that deliver workplace results.
When: From 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM on both days. Designed as consecutive days to maintain momentum, build trust progressively, and translate Day 1 insights into Day 2 action plans.
Where: Held at your premises or a venue of your choice. The workshop requires a space where 6-12 participants can work collaboratively on practical exercises, group discussions, and hands-on activities without interruption. Physical presence is essential—the trust-building and team dynamics work cannot be replicated virtually.
Who: Hosted by
Hywel Griffiths
This workshop is specifically designed for intact teams: people who must work together regularly and want to improve their collective effectiveness. Ideal for department heads building cohesive teams, cross-functional teams needing stronger collaboration, leadership teams establishing effective working norms, newly formed or merged teams developing their identity, and any team experiencing communication breakdowns, hidden agendas, or unclear roles. This requires 6-12 people from the same working unit committed to honest exploration of team dynamics and creating practical improvements together.
Day 1
Building the Foundation
Day 2
Building Capability and Creating Action
EXPECTATIONS:
Day 1 establishes the foundation for team transformation through a comprehensive exploration of team effectiveness. You'll begin by examining different types of teams and organisational structures (office-based, work-from-home, hybrid, online) and how they impact collaboration. Through interactive ice-breaker exercises, you'll discover what makes teams effective by identifying unique strengths and commonalities within your group. The cornerstone of Day 1 is learning TORI principles of Trust, Openness, Realisation, and Interdependence as the framework for high-performing teams. You'll explore the four stages of team development (Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing) and begin working through the first four of Glenn Parker's 12 Characteristics of Effective Teams: Clear Purpose, Informality, Participation, and Listening.

Workshop Promise - by the end of this session you will be able to:
TORI Principles Mastered: Understand Trust, Openness, Realisation, and Interdependence as the foundation for team effectiveness.
Team Development Stages: Recognise where your team is in the Forming/Storming/Norming/Performing cycle and what to do at each stage.
Types of Teams Clarity: Understand different team models (traditional, team spirit, cutting edge, task force, cyber) and which fits your context.
First 4 Characteristics Applied: Master Clear Purpose (SMART goals), Informality (relaxed climate), Participation (engagement), and Listening (to understand vs. react).
Team Norms Established: Create ground rules and working agreements that enable effective collaboration.
Self-Awareness Developed: Gain insight into your own communication style, strengths, and impact through interactive exercises.
EXPECTATIONS:
Day 2 builds on the foundation by completing Glenn Parker's 12 Characteristics of Effective Teams—covering Civilised Disagreements, Consensus Decisions, Open Communication, Clear Roles, Shared Leadership, External Relations, Style Diversity, and Self-Assessment. You'll discover your Team Player Type using Glenn Parker's 4Cs framework (Contributor, Collaborator, Communicator, Challenger) and understand how different styles strengthen teams. The day explores advanced team tools including Edward de Bono's Six Thinking Hats for creative problem-solving, lateral versus vertical thinking approaches, and trust/relationship models. You'll practice resolving internal conflict, conduct a team SWOT analysis, and work through structured problem-solving phases (Exploration, Analysis, Evaluation). The workshop concludes with actionable plans that translate two days of learning into measurable workplace improvements.

Workshop Promise - by the end of this session you will be able to:
