A Story-telling Performance Review

Published: 15th September, 2020

From the moment the email arrives a typical Performance Review can be more compliance than collaboration, more ‘let’s get it done’ than ‘what do you really think? ‘.. and need from us (to be the best version of yourself)?’ Here we explore a story telling Performance Review where we provide to you and your colleagues with the ability to captivate and inspire those around you. We’re used to enjoying these kind of stories in films and boxsets but why can’t we adopt this for your next review meeting. You’ll be struck how straightforward this can be.

Sam Knowles is a Data story-teller and insightful thinker. With a sense of what we love to do as humans he has taken this approach into the workplace to help his clients better get their message across. Here we explored this together to meld together the Pixar story telling structure and the BIG PICTURE® symbols. I would urge you to watch the highlights of this webinar below .. it’s an absolute cracker and the start of something big!

Using the story of the growth of the innovative world of Apple, more about Purpose than Technology, the role of Passion we used a series of examples to knock-about the Pixar 6-step structure. We went into more depth with Lisa to explore the world of construction, not something you might associate with the big screen, and demonstrated an unscripted and wonderful application of the proposed approach.

This story telling Performance Review is a work in progress within our Performance Community of Practice. The output from this activity will be YourBigPic one-page Performance Prompt to give to your colleagues as preparation for their next review. Watch the delight on their face before, during and after when they throw themselves into it!

Please do ask us to help you achieve this same impact in your organisation. We can deliver this activity for you and at the same time upskill your team to take over the delivery. You can weave this into your Performance activities which means you’re paying once for resources and deploying them many times across your organisation.

Find out more about our approach for Engaging Performance. You can have a go yourself by printing and writing on the resource within the brochure you can download. The stuff we care about is all over our YouTube channel @YourBigPic. I would love to take you through a taster of BIG PICTURE® in a Webinar you can sign-up for here.
